Richard Hoskins has worked on many of Britain's biggest criminal investigations. He is the only registered multi-cultural expert on the national police database. His expertise has taken him to Europe and beyond. He first travelled to Africa twenty-five years ago, intending to spend a year there, but actually staying for six. His experiences during those years would change his life. On his return to the UK, he eventually went up to Oxford where he took a double First followed quickly by a PhD at King's College London. It was as a Senior Lecturer in the study of religions at Bath Spa University that he was first approached by officers investigating the 2001 Thames torso case. This led to the creation of his bestselling The Boy in the River, Gold Winner at the Crime Writers' Association Dagger Awards 2013. Since then he has applied his cultural and religious expertise to over a hundred major investigations by police and social services.
