Agent: Mark Lucas
Mark Johnson was born in the West Midlands in 1970. After a complicated childhood, he became a crack cocaine and heroin addict, spent time in prison, and lived rough on the streets of London. He has written about his experiences in his bestselling memoir, Wasted.
He has been clean since 2000, set up his own successful tree surgery business and is spearheading national projects that aim to bring help, support and inspiration to recovering addicts and young offenders. Mark won the Prince’s Trust Young Achiever of the Year Award and the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Award. He has worked as a special advisor to both the National Probation Service and The Prince’s Trust.
Mark now runs a non-profit organisation, User Voice, to offer policy-makers access to the unheard and marginalised – and vice versa.
