Mark Ellen has worked in journalism since 1977. He started out at New Musical Express and then became editor of Smash Hits, Q, Select, the managing editor of MOJO and editor-in-chief of EMAP's music, film and entertainment titles. His broadcast work includes Radios 1, 2 and 4 and BBC 2's The Old Grey Whistle Test. He edited The Word magazine from 2002 until 2012 and contributes to The Observer, The Guardian, The Times, The Oldie, GQ, Private Eye and Elle. His latest book Rock Stars Stole my Life! is a funny and touching personal memoir that maps out his 50-year love affair with rock and roll.
