Margaret Humphreys CBE, OAM is a social worker, author and campaigner from Nottingham. In 1987 she brought to public attention the British government's programme to forcibly relocate disadvantaged children, without their parents' knowledge, to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the former Rhodesia and other parts of the Commonwealth of Nations. She founded and continues to run the Child Migrant's Trust, devoted to the task of enabling former child migrants to reclaim their personal identity and reunite them with their parents and relatives, and to develop public awareness of their history. She took part in the TV documentary The Lost Children of the Empire, and has written a bestselling memoir, Empty Cradles, filmed by Jim Loach as Oranges and Sunshine.
