Joe is one of the world's best-known wine experts, familiar from ITV's The Wine Show, a thirteen-part television series broadcast in over 100 countries which he presented alongside the actors Matthew Goode and Matthew Rhys. Joe's performance was described in The Guardian as 'a revelation...Simultaneously knowledgeable and awestruck, Fattorini managed to turn the climax to a throwaway ten-minute segment on Napoleon's favourite booze into a genuinely compelling piece of television.'
In 2017, he won both the International Wine Challenge "Personality of the Year" and the International Wine and Spirits Competition "Wine Communicator of the Year". He was the highest-placed media figure in the annual "100 Most Influential People in Wine" by Drinks Retailing News - ranking above leading industry figures. This is the latest achievement in an extensive and varied career in wine, during which Joe has served as Director of Sales at Bibendum Ltd., written the (still) industry standard textbook Managing Wine and Wine Sales , and taught at Strathclyde University as the Sir Hugh Wontner Lecturer!
What the audience can expect
Joe doesn't just do "wine dinners". He's a captivating speaker who blends expert knowledge with an engaging, humorous style to create an unforgettable evening around the subject of wine. In the UK, he is celebrated for corporate dinners where he resolves to turn his audience into wine experts. In the USA, Joe was a fixture on the US PGA Tour and Tournament Players Club network for evenings that mixed expert discussion with anecdotes from his life in wine that left audiences feeling they had been to a comedy show. At the Gourmet Glasgow Festival, he was described as 'the Uk's finest - and funniest - wine speaker' and one guest was led to claim 'Joe made me fall off my perch laughing. Pure brilliance.'
Joe regularly does events for corporations, food and wine festivals, hotels and restaurants. He has hosted charity events and themed dinners (one memorable evening revolved around a vertical tasting of Francis Ford Coppola's wines in Las Vegas), run "tasting table" events and just entertaining evenings where everyone leaves more confident choosing a bottle of wine. Joe is also happy to run more small-scale, intimate events - he recently led, for example, a unique evening for a party of four high-net wine-lovers in Canada.
Joe presents in English.
'I'm very serious when I say your wine dinner at Sugarloaf was one of the most memorable I've ever done. Really. When can we do more of those?! When I told you I was going to theme it around "the best of Argentina", highlighting a particular Catena Malbec...and within 15 minutes you called the vineyard and had a case of the exact same ten-year-old Malbec being overnighted to us...I knew we were in for a treat!'
